Vintage Orange Juicer
I inherited the aluminum version of this juicer that Mom used for citrus juices in our childhood home. I've never seen one until now that was close to its design. Now, CHEFS Catalog carrys this retro styled yet modernly updated juicer.
Crafted of enameled cast aluminum components, this juicer includes a pour spout and funnel. The enameled part was what I was searching for since I learned that aluminum should NOT touch whatever you drink, cook, or juice in.
The Vintage Orange Juicer has sure-grip feet to prevent slipping and scratches. Hand-wash, only.
Vegan Dinners India Lemonade Quenches the Heat of Curry Spices
Curries are often hot and spicy, so beverages served with the meal need to address the HEAT. This simple "India Lemonade" cuts the heat and isn't too sweet... use less sugar for a tart taste. Served over crushed ice, this will cool down any hot tongue.
Ingredients
5 cups bottled water
5 tablespoons white sugar
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
2 lemons juiced
4 limes juiced
crushed ice
2 lemons cut into thin slices
2 limes cut into thin slices
2 tablespoons sugar for glass edges
Tools
measuring cup
measuring spoons
small sauce pan
silicon spatula
large pitcher
serving glasses
citrus juicer or reamer
Preparation Liquify the Sugar
Measure 1/2 cup of water into a sauce pan and add the sugar and salt.
Over high heat, stir until all the sugar and salt dissolves.
In a pitcher, add the lemon and lime juice and bottled water.
Pour in the dissolved sugar water and stir.
Presentation
I like to present this lemonade in a tall glass that will accommodate a large portion of crushed ice with a lemon and lime slice on the glass edge.
For a fancier presentation, wet the edge of the glass in water and dip into sugar before filling with crushed ice and lemonade.
