Tandoori Tofu Steaks
Tofu India Style

Indian restaurants often have items like mock duck that they add to curries for vegans... the problem is that those items are filled with additives that I don't want to consume. So this is my alternative and it tastes better!
Ingredients
1 box FRESH FIRM organic tofu
1/2 cup Tofu Tandoori Marinade
spray-on olive or canola oil
Tools
casserole pyrex dish
measuring cup
plastic wrap
knife
spatula
large heavy bottom skillet
Preparation
Tofu Preparation
Open the tofu container and drain.
Rinse the block of tofu under water and place on a clean terry kitchen towel and wrap it around the entire block.
Place the wrapped tofu in the refrigerator... best if done the night before cooking.
By wicking all the moisture from the tofu, the tofu steak slices will be firmer.
After 24 hours, cut the tofu into 6 equal slices to form the steaks.

Tofu Marinade
In a shallow casserole dish, add the Tofu Tandoori Marinade and coat each steak with the mixture and leave them all in the dish.
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and put back into the refrigerator.
This step can be done the day before or 1/2 hour before cooking.
The longer the tofu is left in the marinade, the better the Tandoori flavor in the tofu steaks.

Pan Fry The Tandoori Tofu Steaks
Using a heavy cast iron skillet on high heat, spray the pan with a spray oil and spray each tofu steak and place into the HOT skillet.
Cook each side until the Tandoori coating turns brown.
Turn the skillet off and set the pan aside to keep the steaks hot until serving.
