Sesame Tamari
Dipping Sauce
Fresh Mint, Thai Sticky Rice, Green Papaya Salad, Spring Rolls, and Sesame Tamari Dipping Sauce Served in a Stainless Steel Dipping Cup.
This is my favorite dipping sauce when serving my spring rolls. And when I want to add zing to my veggies, this dressing is great on hot items or salads. I keep a jar in the refrigerator for use whenever I want to add that Asian feel to a "ho-hum meal."
Ingredients
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup tamari
1/2 cup rice wine vinegar
juice of one small lime
2 tablespoons grated fresh ginger root
1 clove fresh garlic minced
2 tablespoons pure roasted sesame oil
2 tablespoons toasted black or white sesame seeds
(one teaspoon of each color creates an interesting presentation)
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes or half of a jalapeno pepper will give a spicy kick to this sauce.
Tools
glass or stainless measuring cup
small stainless wire whisk
stainless measuring spoons
small heavy bottom sauce pan
Preparation
Using a heavy bottom sauce pan, dry roast the sesame seeds over low heat constantly stirring until lightly toasted.
Once they begin to pop, the seeds will be truly toasted.
The freshest sesame seeds are found in Asian markets.
Combine all ingredients in the small heavy bottom pan and bring to a simmer.
Whisk the pan continuously to combine.
Cool and pour into a jar for refrigerator storage.
