Vegan Style
Having your favorite hamburger "vegan" style is easier and better tasting than ever! Thanks to Boca Burger, Gardenburger and Amy, I love serving these products to "vegan scoffer" friends that think we only eat lettuce and carrots.
Each company has a whole different taste to their products, so you'll have to try all of them to really make up your mind as to your personal favorite. Remember to read the labels because each company makes items that contain eggs or milk products... look for the word "vegan" somewhere on the package.

Ingredients
Amy Texas Burger, Gardenburger or Boca Burger
lettuce
tomato
purple or yellow onion, thinly sliced
pickles, bread and butter, dill, kosher or sweet
potato chips, baked with low fat, Kettle Bakes
hamburger buns or sliced bread
sliced red or yellow onions
Vegenaise
Dijon mustard
ketsup, organic
crushed red pepper flakes
sea salt
black pepper
non-stick oil spray
Tools
mandoline
cutting board
knife
spatulas
heavy bottom skillet
lid for skillet
terry towel
Preparation
Cook the Vegan Burger
Place the skillet on a burner at the highest heat.
Remove your favorite vegan burger from the cellophane package and spray each side and the bottom of the skillet with non-stick oil spray.
Place each burger onto the hot skillet and turn the heat down to medium.

Cook for 3 minutes on each side and look for a good browning.
Take two buns or bread slices and place over each burger and put a lid on top... this will steam the bread and give it a just baked feel and taste.
Heat the Buns
While the burgers and buns are heating... in between flipping them and putting the bread on top, cut up and arrange the vegetables that you plan on putting on your burger creation.
Onions
With a mandoline, thinly slice a purple onion.
Put the onion slices in a bowl and cover with water.
Swish the onion slices thoroughly and drain the water off.
Pour the onion slices onto a terry towel and wrap them up like a gift... set aside.
Tomatoes
Slice the tomatoes.
Pickles
Take out the pickles and lay them on top of the onion terry package to drain any excess liquids.
Remember, a soggy hamburger is NOT good!
Condiments
Open the jars of Vegenaise, mustard, ketsup and anything else you love on burgers.
Get a plate and arrange your burger as you like.

Presentation
Hamburgers can be made in less than 10 minutes in our kitchen. We like to serve them with Potato Salad, Oriental Slaw, Kettle Chips or Oven Baked French Fries.

Kettle Brand Bakes Potato Chips.. Lightly Salted
Kettle makes this great lightly sea salted potato chip with 65% less fat than regular potato chips!!!! It's a guilt-free indulgence and a serving size of 1 ounce... that's 1/4 of the bag is only 120 calories. The fat content is only 3 grams... so a serving is only 25 calories from FAT!

Oven Baked French Fries
For times when I plan ahead, I like to serve Oven Baked French Fries with our burgers... but it takes an hour to cook them.
No matter how you love to server burgers, Amy, Gardenburger and Boca Burger can meet your vegan taste requirements.
