Instruction and Recipe Booklet
I always try to include the PDF version of any appliances that I recommend. The booklet recipes are NOT vegan, but they provide ideas for creating vegan waffle recipes. The appliance instructions are simple and all the information you need is located in this PDF.
My Experience Making Vegan Coconut Belgian Waffles
I L-O-V-E the Cuisinart WAF-100 Belgian 4-Slice Waffle Maker and the crispy exterior of each waffle with a soft interior! After trying higher settings of the Belgian Waffle Maker and getting overcooked exteriors on the center of the waffles, I suggest that you NOT heat the waffle maker higher than the middle setting 3 setting. In fact, I think it should be set in the middle, between #2 and #3 for a perfect Vegan Coconut Belgian Waffle.
NO Non-Stick Spray Oils
DO NOT spray the non-stick surface with any type of spray oil or you will create a gummy sticky surface. The first time I used my waffle maker, I used a silicone pastry brush and painted the grids with canola oil. After that, I've never used anything on the grids before pouring the batter onto them.
The Vegan Coconut Belgian Waffle Recipe was written to create four perfect Belgian waffles using the Cuisinart WAF-100 Waffle Maker without oozing over the sides while baking. Keep this in mind and you won't ever have any extra clean-up along the exterior edges of the waffle maker. While experimenting with the recipe, I had several overflows and want you to know that clean-up was easy. In fact I was entertaining during one experimental recipe and left the unit to join the group and came back to a caked-on mess along the edges. But when I started rubbing the sides with a cloth, all of the batter slid right off with little rubbing.
