I own one of each wooden handled offset spatula. The offset spatula was designed for decorating and frosting individual sized cakes, pastries and cupcakes. But I use it for applying mayonnaise, jam and nut butters to bread. The spatula's thin stainless steel blade is designed to be flexibles so it glides smoothly and fluidly across my bread's surface to get the entire surface coated in whatever thickness or thinness desired.

The offset spatula is also great for lifting that first pie or cake slice out the the pan.

And of course, the main reason for this tool is to frost cupcakes!!!
